hanks to UpSpring's Shrinkx Hips postpartum hip compression belt and the hormone relaxin (truly a gift from Mother Nature), wider hips don't have to happen. Shrinkx Hips was launched in 2009 and designed exclusively for your hips. This postpartum compression wrap was made to assist new moms looking to narrow their hips after giving birth. After delivery, relaxin levels remain elevated for up to eight weeks, keeping pelvic joints soft and malleable. Shrinkx Hips applies pressure directly to the hips, helping guide them back to their pre-pregnancy position, and holds them there while your pelvic joints are stabilizing. Some women may not experience wider hips after their first delivery, but may see increased widening with each subsequent pregnancy. Give binding a try. After all, women have been doing it for centuries, so they must be on to something good!

I'm Smaller But Why?
I bought the shrinkx hip belt because I needed a lot of help after the birth of my first child to regain my prior shape. I was invested in not taking so long about my fitness, shape, weight, etc., with the second child and bought a few items to help boost my progress. The belt was one of these items. The belt was uncomfortable to wear after my surprise c-section so I waited a couple weeks until I could wear it comfortably...that's what the instructions advise you to do. Then I began wearing it for 8 hours per day. I lost a lot of weight rather rapidly and my hips changed quickly. I put on mostly water weight with the second pregnancy and it flushed out and I found myself with my prepregnancy body much sooner than anticipated. So I'm not certain how much the belt actually did for me. The belt gave me nice support in the hips. Pregnancy causes a lot of extra lower back and hip issues for me. When I could comfortably tolerate wearing the belt, my hips felt great. The belt causes a nasty muffin top. Be prepared to wear cardigans and jackets to hide this temporary, annoying side effect. I wore it under my jeans and it caused my jeans to slide down my bottom all day long and it gave my butt an odd flat look from behind. I thought the belt was easy to put on and easy to take off. I did think it stretched more than it should for the price because I had to retighten it frequently through the day. In summary, I wore the belt but I lost most of my weight as fluid after the pregnancy. My hips did shrink, but there is no final answer as to how much the belt actually did. I think it is a great product potentially for some people. I don't anticipate using it after the next pregnancy though.

Gimicky - Don't think you need it.
2 stars because I thought this product was 'gimicky' and yet... I had to try it. I put it on 3 days pp, and found that it made my hips very sore - like, they definitely compressed, but noticed it increased my bleeding. So, I took a break from it - and did it again at 2 weeks pp... i just found it incredibly uncomfortable, but the product definitely made me feel like it was working. I did not use it consistently and sort of gave up on it. It just wasn't for me. Also, prior to purchase, I asked my docs about this product and they had never heard of it, said it couldn't hurt, but nature would keep me where I was supposed to be. The part that worried me was that some of these reviews said "smaller than pre-pregnancy"... Maybe that's because they either lost a ton of weight post baby or because this product really worked and I didn't want to do that. I like my hip size... Something else I considered was that after baby #1, I was back in my pre pregnancy jeans around 6-8 months... meaning my hips were the same size after that period of time without this product. I believe that your pants don't fit after pregnancy (in my experience) because of the baby weight. Now that I have had baby #2 and am 7 weeks PP, (just like before) my pants still don't fit, and I did NOT use this product well enough to say that is the reason. You just can't do a test with this product to see if it works or doesn't, and I was definitely scared to overdo it. (How would that affect my balance or idk.. ?) The good news is, the doc said if I used it, and it did shrink smaller than previously, it would not impact future pregnancies because your body relaxes back out for the next baby to go through.. Oh, and immediately after pregnancy I was like a 42" around the hips, and at 6wks PP I am 40"... Again, I totally think this is because of the extra LB's I've got, and not because my bones stayed put.

Mildly uncomfortable but does the job
In 8 weeks I had lost over an inch off my hip width. that's not weight, as I weight exactly the same. To me, that's success. It's easy to put on and to adjust. The non-slip strips work moderately well. It does tend to ride up as you sit, but if you truly get it around your hips, it won't ride up as much. I tended to feel a bit sore after wearing it, but that's to be expected after cinching yourself in for 12 hours. I usually put it on in the evening around my baby's final nursing and wore it to sleep in and for the first couple hours of the day. No big deal there. It does bunch up in the front, especially if you have a post-baby pooch. the belt pushed up the pooch to an embarrassing degree that made me look even fatter. Which just meant that I either timed my wearing schedule around leaving the house, or wore looser-fitting tops, or avoided low-rise pants. I have already recommended it to several pregnant friends. I wish that I'd had one for my first two pregnancies.

expecting it to fit pretty tight. My third week into wearing it
I used this product and the HipSlimmer corset. I was a 4-6 before my first pregnancy, and so I bought the xs-s, expecting it to fit pretty tight. My third week into wearing it, ((and the HipSlimmer)) the side pieces were practically touching in the middle and I was still wearing my medium maternity pants after just having baby #2. The band continues to tighten in compression throughout wearing it. I wore it overnight a few times, and sometimes when I would be sitting for long periods. It was quite comfortable to wear, even when it became tight after a couple of hours. Since I used it AND the HipSlimmer, I can't honestly say if it would have worked by itself. It was certainly easier to sit, or walk while wearing. If you're in tune with your body you can feel it working, and it's great to help keep your hips correctly positioned throughout the eight weeks of recovery, when your body is producing the relaxing hormone to help realign your skeletal structure, after carrying a baby for several months. I definitely recommend it to anyone and everyone interested. Mommy, you deserve to look and feel great, if you're contemplating it, do it.

Outstanding
I wore this after my second pregnancy, and ended up with hips 1" smaller than before I ever had children. A miracle product, highly recommended.
